We drove to Ohio to spend Thankgiving with The Bonds and to meet Courtney & Trevor's newest cousin, baby Max. We had a fun visit and fell in love with Max. He is one happy kid!

Trick-or-Treat

The kids had a fun Halloween this year. Courtney went off with her girlfriends and came home loaded with candy. (This was her first Halloween Trick-0r-Treat without Mom or Dad...yikes!) Trevor went out with his good buddy Erik and Erik's dad. They had a great time golfcarting throughout the neighborhood.

Jeff's 40th

Jeff turned 40 and we went all out...a family trip to NYC. We had a great time exploring Central Park, eating lots of New York food, and going to Lion King which just blew us away.

Courtney Turns Eleven!

Courtney celebrated her 11th birthday in September with a big slumber party. Eleven guest came and spent the night. Mom didn't get much sleep, but they sure had fun! A family party was hosted by Nana the next day. It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed Aunt Sue's yummy mocha trifle on the porch. Year Eleven was off to a great start!

Trevor Turns Eight!

Trevor celebrated turning 8 in August with a Star Wars Party complete with lots of family and one of his best friends, Erik. He was showered with gifts and hugs. It was a great day!

Summer Vacation 2007

We had another great vacation in northern Michigan this year. We started out at Great Wolf Lodge which the kids just love. Next we moved into the cottage where we saw lots of family and enjoyed many warm water days. We spent July 4th in Gaylord where we got to meet all the new baby cousins. It was a memorable vacation! Almost Heaven...West Virginia

We headed up to Showshoe, West Virginia this February Winter Break for a ski trip. It's the only way we'll see snow this year, we fear! The resort was really nice and the weather cooperated for lots of great skiing. We had a roomy condo complete with kitchen, fireplace, balcony and two bathrooms. The little town had everything we could ever need including lots of great food and shopping. There was even a steamy outdoor pool and a huge tent where the kids could play video games, foosball, eurobungy, rock climb, etc... We will plan to return to this spot again next year.

A Peachtree City Christmas

For the first time ever we stayed home for all of Christmas. With so much family nearby it is no longer necessary to travel. We really enjoyed not having to pack and repack...at least I did!!!

Halloween Trick-or-Treating 2006

Trick-or-Treat night finally came for two anxious kids. Each year Courtney and Trevor spend the months of August, September and October planning what they will dress as for Halloween.

This year Courtney decided it would be fun for her and three of her best friends to dress as witches. Each girl chose a color to accent their costume and then embellished a plain black witch costume with lots of fun details in their chosen color. Courtney picked green.

She had already committed to this idea when Jeff and I were in NYC in September for a weekend getaway. We saw "Wicked" while we were there...spectacular show! I was so nuts about the show that I convinced Jeff that we needed to go to "Wicked: Behind the Curtain" the next morning. It too was just fantastic. I asked one of the actors where to go to find great trims for costumes and he gave us the exact blocks to hit in NYC's Garmet District. We came home with a bag full of fab. stuff for Courtney's costume. She and I had a blast working on it!

Trevor too had a lot of opinions about his costume this year. Gone are the days when I can pick out a cute idea and sell him on it. He wanted the absolute scariest, bloodiest, creepiest costume he could find. I said "no way" to almost every mask and prop he begged for. Finally, I consented to his idea of a black cape and a scary mask. I made a cape with a bat lined purple lining and bought him a mask that looked like a skeleton. He hated the mask. He said it was too cute. He used his own money to buy a "cool" one. On Halloween night people kept asking him what he was. He wasn't sure what to say. I told him to tell them he was a "creep". Yes, my mothering skills were shining brightly that evening.

October Fun 2006

We had a fun October. It is one of the nicest months in Georgia! One Saturday we drove up to the Stone Mountain Park to see the lazer light show. We went up a little early so that we could spend some daylihgt hours enjoying the park. There were decorations everywhere and the kids had a great time playing in the Boys V.S. Girls Treehouse.

Trunk-or-Treating

After the big swim meet: Pumpkin Wars, Courtney's team put on a Halloween event called "Trunk-or-Treat". Each family decorated their trunks with Halloween props and a big bowl of candy, of course. The kids then put on their costumes and went from car to car.

We used an idea out of Family Fun Magazine and made a funky skeleton out of pvc pipes. We added a swim cap and goggles to dress him properly for the event. he even had a stemmed glass full of spiders to quench his thirst. We got a spooky sounds and music CD so that our trunk was a real party!

I'd say it was more fun than traditional trick-or treating. I heard on the radio a few days after our event that "trunk-or treats" (shouldn't it be trunks-and-treats?) are really catching on all over the country and some think this form of Halloween celebrating may eventually replace going door to door. That would be okay with me. This was a blast. We had costume contests, pizza for everyone, it was great. Another plus was that it was so safe!

This was taken last fall at our church's Wednesday night youth program. I'm pretty involved with the prop and set design for this big weekly show. It is a lot of fun. Here, C & T are dropping off their "homework" cards and getting a lollipop from one of the "Safety Pops". This picture was on display at church last week as an advertisement for the program.
